If you’ve read anything about Best Communications, we’re sure you’ve heard - we’re Prague’s very own Anglo-Czech PR firm. If you haven’t heard about Best, that’s okay too. Because we like to talk about ourselves. In fact, we love it. Because we’re in PR – it’s sort of our hobby.
You probably know what we’re about (You can visit our
Web site; you can read our credentials. You can even stalk us on Facebook, or
at the very least, “Like” us), but what is Best Communications? Without getting
too existential, we asked Euan Edworthy (our CEO) a few questions that might help you make
our acquaintance.
The name “Best Communications” is seemingly
self-explanatory, yet we’ve all heard rumors it may have had something to do
with a famous footballer. Care to set record straight?
“Best was named after my school-boy hero George Best,
who was probably the best footballer in the 1960s/1970s – he was also known as
the fifth Beatle due to his looks and quite colourful figure. Also, the name
Best quite clearly sets out what we our aiming to achieve: our objective is
always to be the gold-standard agency in the Czech Republic.”
Why a bulldog? Were any other dogs, or non-canine
symbols considered?
“I have had two bulldogs and love the breed. Also,
being the Anglo-Czech PR firm, the bulldog enhances our British credentials
somewhat.”
How is the agency—broadly speaking—different today
than what you had imagined it would be, say 10 or 15 years ago?
“Each year, we have grown by 20 percent in terms of
revenue and now we are one of the largest agencies in Central Europe. At the
beginning in 1995, I started with one colleague, a 15 sqm office, a mobile
phone the size of a suitcase, and one client - so I am delighted to have
watched Best mature/evolve into something quite special over the years.”
How would you describe the Best team?
“SWAN: smart, well-educated, ambitious and nice.”
What do you hope visitors will think or feel when they
walk into Best? Describe the atmosphere.
“Serene, professional… a warm environment with an
undercurrent of creativity.”
Well, there you have it. You’re probably not even
reading this anymore because you’re probably busy googling George Best. Good
looking fellow! And charismatic. Probably would have been good at PR…
